Rize City MD with secondary battery

"I bought the City MD because I wanted a bike with a lot of torque and a very long range as we often go for long rides. Unfortunately I weigh a fair bit more than I should and I've got some arthritis in my legs so I would usually ride my previous E- bike on level 4 and at the end of a ride I'd be nervously watching my battery level. With the Rize bike I'm normally riding on level 2 and not at all concerned with remaining battery level on most rides even WITHOUT the 2nd battery. I'm very happy with the bike and glad to have the peace of mind with the extra battery. It's easy to attach & detatch from the bike and it locks securely in place so I only have it in the bike when going for long rides. One thing I'll mention is that I discovered riding a mid drive is different than on hub drive bikes when it comes to downshiftingthe gears. Because of its high torque it's important to downshift when you are slowing down. . . and you want to do that when you are not under power from the motor. Just "lightly" touching the brake stops the motor but does not apply any braking so doing that while downshifting gears works great. I'm very happy with my purchase!"

Dual battery for Rize RX

"Unlocks the full potential of the bikes power and range. Sits firmly attached to the frame. At 700 bucks it should automatically come with another charger."

Secondary Battery

"Very easy to install and no complicated wiring to do, just plug and play…. Most e-bikes don’t have this luxury to accommodate a secondary battery. Well designed. Mike"

Q&A

Is the secondary battery easy to remove from the bike? I own a RX PRO, but do not want to 'store' the battery and charge it on my bike -- I want to be able to bring it indoors to rest and charge given these batteries cannot handle extreme temperatures. My concern is if removing the battery on a consistent basis will loosen how it is fastened to the frame. I am assuming it locks to a mounting plate of some sort that is bolted to the bike.
The Secondary batteries can be easily removed by unlocking it with a key and sliding it off the Mounting bracket to bring indoors. Doing this frequently does not loosen anything as long as the bolts are tightened properly when installing the bracket.
How much does the extra battery weigh? How does it affect how easy you can step threw to mount the bike? I have mobility issues but want the extra battery to ride longer - if I can't get on and off the bike it won't help. Anyone with a photo of the City with the extra battery attached and measurement of how high I now have to lift my leg to get over the step threw.
The secondary battery is around 9 lbs and would impede the step thru capability by raising the minimum step thru height by 6 inches on the City.
Since they work in parallel when on, can I leave the second battery on forever? Or will it turn itself off after a time? If I charge the bike with the secondary battery on, do both batteries charge?
The secondary battery can be left on the bike with the primary battery. It has an on and off switch, which let you decide whether to drain the primary first or both at the same time. Both batteries charge independently.
How does a secondary battery work? Is the first one being used until depleted, and then the secondary battery kicks in, or do they work in parallel with energy being drawn proportionally so that both batteries are depleted at the same time?
Hi Gatinos, the primary and secondary batteries will run in parallel if the secondary battery is turned on. Should you not want the batteries running in parallel, the secondary battery can be turned off until the primary battery is depleted.
